Facebook rolled out a new “Food order” feature for its US users, where the users won’t have to leave the social network and they can order food from nearby restaurants within Facebook. This feature will provide both delivery and takeout option from select restaurants like Five Guys, Papa John’s and Panera. Also it includes on-demand services from EatStreet, Delivery.com, ChowNow and DoorDash. Read more to know about Facebook food delivery service.
Facebook vice president Alex Himel says “People go to Facebook to search about nearby restaurants, they check what their friends are eating and also they check and post reviews for food and restaurants. Ordering food for takeout or delivery is supposed to be simple. That is the point”. He also says the currently available option for food order, delivery service is too much complicated. First people have to decide what they have to eat then they have to switch between various options and services. So Facebook is trying to make this process simple.
People can browse restaurants nearby by visiting the Order Food section in the Explore menu. Facebook says they have been testing this feature for over a year and they have responded to the feedbacks and added more partners to make this process easy for the users. This service is now available for Facebook Android, iOS and desktop. But only in US.
